Cape Town – South African actress Thuso Mbedu has done the country proud once more after winning the award for Outstanding Breakthrough Actress at the 23rd annual Black Reel Awards.
Based in Washington, DC, the Black Reel Awards is an annual ceremony that honours African-American film achievement in feature, independent, and television films.
Mbedu won the award for her stunning performance in as Nawi in the film, The Woman King.

Meanwhile, The Woman King was crowned the winner of the Outstanding Film category.

The movie was nominated and won a few more awards including Outstanding Editing, Outstanding Score, Outstanding Editing, and Oustanding Ensemble.
Gina Prince-Baywood won the Outstanding Director for the stellar way in which directed The Woman King.
