Cape Town – Award-winning choreographer and jack of all trades, Somizi Mhlongo, took to Instagram over the weekend to announce to his legion of followers that he will soon be hosting his own brand new TV show Downtime With Somizi.
The show will debut on April 8 on 1Magic.
According to IOL, the TV show comprises of 13 episodes where Somizi will host a variety of guests through fun and engaging activities.
“Guests take part in an outrageously fun and quirky experience for the first time and then head to a relaxed and low-key dinner where themed topics will be explored in-depth,” the report said.
In a snippet of a video shared on social media, a flamboyant and effervescent Somizi is seen introducing viewers to what they can expect on the show.

“This year our spirits and minds deserve a break. 2022 to the top. I’m taking five star experiences that will make will make everyone want to go fetch their lives. Catch me on my show, Downtime With Somizi Friday, 8 April only on 1Magic,” he said.

According to The Citizen, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net, Shirley Adonisi said that “1Magic will continue to expand its repertoire with shows that cut across many genres and formats”.
“It’s another exploration for the channel to play in the talk show genre, which viewers have previously enjoyed. 1Magic will continue to expand its repertoire with shows that cut across many genres and formats, and that’s something our audience can continue to expect from us,” the publication quoted her as saying.
