The use of mannequins for displaying clothes by tailors, stores, and boutique owners across a Nigerian state, has been banned because they “violate” Islamic teachings, reports say.
Such display dummies, which mimic the human form, are “also responsible for immoral thoughts among some members of the public”, said the head of Kano state’s Islamic police force, Hisbah, according to BBC.
“Hisban prohibits the use of mannequins at shops, commercial and private residences and other public places.

“This violates Islamic provisions, it is also responsible for immoral thoughts among some members of the public, all these are against Islam,” Premium Times quoted Hisban as saying.
A public awareness campaign against mannequins will soon be introduce, after which any offenders will be arrested, the report said.
The ban, however, does not include headless mannequins, said the report.
