Cape Town — Veteran sportscaster Robert Marawa says there have been threats against his life in the past and he reflected on his near-death experiences.
Speaking on DJ Fresh’s podcast, WAW What A Week, Marawa and Fresh spoke about his life as a sports presenter and how he’s made success in his career.
As the interview went on, Marawa touched on some of the health scares he faced, adding that there were times he felt his life was threatened.
In 2008 he had a heart attack after a gym session, which he said was because he had not been exercising for a while. In 2013 he collapsed at an event. He was also reportedly taken to a medical facility in 2017.
Marawa said that, despite reports indicating he suffered three heart attacks, he said the third time he was hospitalised, he nearly lost his life but not due to a heart attack.
“I was not exaggerating. There have been attempts on my life. Even in the times when people were saying I was in hospital because of a heart attack and it was my third heart attack. I never had three heart attacks but I ended up in ICU. The two were purely cardiac and health-related. That’s the one that was a direct threat to my life but it was reported as a heart attack.”
