‘The Kingdom’ actor Thapelo ‘Kagiso’ Maropefela dies at age 24

Cape Town – South African actor Thapelo Maropefela has died.

According to IOL, the actor died on the eve of his 25th birthday on Sunday, October 24.

Maropefela was best known for his role as Kagiso in the SABC1 drama series “The Kingdom”, which premiered early this year.

Thapelo’s younger sister, Kamogelo Maropefela took to social media to announce the star’s death.

She did not, however, reveal the cause of death.

“Friends and Family, Unfortunately my little brother, Thapelo Maropefela, left us is the early hours of today. Please give my family and I some space to process and arrange everything Thank you, Loves,” Kamogelo wrote in a Twitter post.

Kamogelo took to Instagram again on Monday, October 25th, to wish her late brother a happy birthday.

“@thapelomaropefela Nana, I’m so sorry Your story was not meant to end now. Not on the eve of your 25th birthday.We are hurt. Cut deep. Empty. But we will try to celebrate you in our mouring. So difficult for me to say Rest easy, because it wasn’t your time to rest yet! Aow papa. I’m so so sorry. We think of you today, and forever. May your spirit find peace. I love you so much. Till we meet again, Sthape. Happy Birthday, little bro,” Kamo wrote in an Instagram post.

Since the shocking announcement, fans and friends have been expressing their grief and sending their condolences to the Maropefela family.
