Cape Town – Valentine’s day was a day of celebration for others, but for South African gqom artist and choreographer, Babes Wodumo, it was a day of mourning, as she spent her first Valentine’s Day without her late partner Mampintsha.
The gqom icon took to social media to share her sadness and reflect on the happy memories she had created with Mampintsha before his passing.
Mampintsha died in December last year at the age of 40, a week after suffering a stroke.
Babes, who is still mourning his death, wrote about how her Valentine’s Day was different from that of other women.
“Wow after sooo many years this is the first Valentines Day without you sthandwa Sam… Today women out there are celebrating with loved ones, but however me being here today makes it different from others,” she wrote on Facebook
“I forever cherish days we shared together..Ngyazi ujabulile ukungbona today nginawe Sdudla Sam, Sdikselwa, Stakataka, Baba ka Sponge.”
Babes recently shared the first bible verses Mampintsha shared with her when they first met.
She took to the Facebook page of her late husband to share the verse that she holds so dear to her followers, posting a picture of it.
“First verse Mina noMandla shared together… Since the first day we met… WayiHighlighter as it is… Now I understand what you meant Sthandwa Sam,” read the caption in the screenshot she upload to the late Mampintsha’s Facebook page.
