Cape Town – South African deejay Ashley Raphala, popularly known as DJ Shimza, has received a social media backlash after he revealed that his helper washes his socks and underwear.
Shimza took to his Twitter account to say that he needs his helper to come back as he is running out of socks.
“My helper needs to come back now, I’m completely out of socks, Ke setse ka tsa ko bounce, tempted to wear them,” he wrote.

He added that he doesn’t do his laundry.
One Twitter user asked the deejay if he considered both socks and underwear to be laundry.
The deejay responded: “It’s part of laundry eh eh.”

The award-winning DJ was then dragged by social media users, including politicians such as Mmusi Maimane for his post.
Many tweeps found his statement to be disgusting.

“Spin those socks and drawers with your hands and soap. We must not forget our ubuntu as we occupy potions of privilege and proximity to power. That’s mid. Not class. We all know how to wash our own clothes. How to clean our own rooms. That is how we were raised,” tweeted Maimane.
In another tweet, he wrote: “You are a grown man.”
