Cape Town – Media personality Ayanda Thabethe has lashed out at ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula, calling him a “coward” after he said the EFF’s national shutdown on Monday was a “big flop”.
Mbalula had tweeted “Shutdown biggest flop” . Thabethe responded, calling Mbalula and the ANC out for the lack of basic services provided to South Africans.
Shutdown biggest flop .

– biggest flop is a party having to feel like they have to resort to this in order to get basic service delivery for the people
– biggest flop is having enough resources to fight a shutdown but not enough resources to do the same to make this country safe https://t.co/2dRy21JkgQ

That prompted Mbalula to reply: “Sele ubuyiswelwe lamcimbi ? [This issue has already been resolved?]”. He then also responded to a tweet by the EFF ‘s Mbuyiseni Ndlozi saying that Mbalula felt scared and personally attacked by the shutdown.
Thabethe tweeted saying that Mbalula was a coward because he personally attacked her.
Ndlozi i have never in my life attacked you personally or denigrate you we are opponents thats all i differ with you and your organization. https://t.co/tEmQ3t4gJr

Lol when he finds someone he’s afraid of… ? !! But you found the need to personally attack me when speaking on a political issue! That makes you a coward. https://t.co/Q9uuLebHsO

Many people responded to Mbalula’s tweets, calling him out for his ignorance and saying he did not realise what the shutdown had forced the ANC to do in response to it.
The shutdown was a big success actually. It managed to expose that you guys have all the resources to fight crime and keep citizens safe, you just choose not to and continue with your corruption. You have no shame, Fikile!

It made you panic! It made you do your job! You can never ever hide behind lack of resources and wet coal. The police have capacity. Eskom CAN provide electricity!
We now know!
