Cape Town — Reports say that the mother of the late celebrity chef, Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, has passed away after her health deteriorated following his untimely death.
Tibz was killed alongside his friend and former SA rapper, AKA. Both men were shot outside Wish Restaurant in Durban in February and the news sent shockwaves throughout South Africa.
According to ZiMoja, Tibz’ mother, Ryhab Niniwe Motsoane (77) died last week on 5 October and was buried over the weekend. Tibz was her only child and, according to a close source, it is believed that Ryhab had not been doing well since the passing of her son.
A family friend added that she had been in and out of hospital since his passing and she simply could not survive without her child. Tibz would often visit his mother to bring her goodie and he had been planning a family trip for her and other family members in December.
An anonymous family member added that Tibz provided financial support to his mother, and other family members too.
“You can imagine the void he left, after he was brutally murdered… her health took a dive. She has been reunited with her beloved son. It is sad for us as friends and family,” the family member added.
Tibz was laid to rest on 16 February at Sacred Heart College in Observatory, Johannesburg.
The Citizen reported that KZN police have provided an update on the murder investigation, saying they have identified the suspects who killed the pair.
KZN police commissioner, Lieutenant-General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, said arrests will be made once a solid case has been built. Both families are waiting patiently for police to make a breakthrough in the case.
