Cape Town — South African actress, Sonia Mbele, rounded out a busy October by going to Paris and attending the Rugby World Cup final to watch the Springboks win their fourth World Cup crown.
Sonia decided to treat herself with a getaway to Paris, where she geared up to watch South Africa play New Zealand in the final. She took to social media and uploaded snippets of her Paris holiday, including wearing the Springbok top, her match day ticket and videos of the Springbok trophy lift.
“I’m filled with so much gratitude….to be part of this pivotal life changing moment is highly indescribable…I may not have been invited by my own country but for my own country I will show up!!!@ she wrote.

In late October, Sonia revealed that she was diagnosed with chronic anemia. This meant a big lifestyle change for her as she had to change her diet, while also treating her iron deficiency.
“At the time I thought I was just fatigued until my doctors performed additional tests which confirmed that I have anemia that has gone chronic. I had to change my diet and eating habits, quit alcohol and I now have to go for drips to make sure I have enough iron,” she said.
To add to the ups and downs of the past month, The Citizen revealed that Sonia was also able to clear her name in her tax evasion scandal, as well as bagging an award at the National Film and Television Awards (NFTV).
Sonia had reportedly missed tow court dates in September and the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) gave the former Generations actress a final chance and she took it up as she reportedly appeared in court last Thursday. Prosecutor Kamohelo Selepe said all charges against the three were withdrawn after Mbele reportedly signed an admission of guilt and paid the applicable fee of R41 000.
In a change of fortunes, she won an award at the NFTV after The Real Housewives of Johannesburg (RHOJ) was named the Best Non Scripted Series for 2023.
