Cape Town – Somizi Mhlongo has cleared the air around his divorce from Mohale Motaung and the star has revealed that he is grateful that the saga has finally been resolved.
Earlier this week, reports emerged claiming that the reality star had “lost” his court case against his ex-husband, as he was ordered to cover his legal fees in the matter.
In a tweet, political commentator and author Eusebius McKaiser noted that Somizi conceded that the marriage to Mohale was never valid, that he (Somizi) was the one claiming they were married while Mohale said customary law elements were never completed and there was no joint estate.
This “notice of withdrawal” means Somizi concedes: a) he was never in a valid marriage with Mohale; b) he was the one claiming they were married while Mohale had said customary law elements were not completed; c) that there’s no joint estate, as Mohale had rightly said.

The news led many fans to say that Somizi lost.
Somizi, however, sought to clear the air by posting a lengthy statement to clarify that he did not lose the case.
In the statement, Somizi said that he wishes to state the true facts of the situation. He said both he and Mohale were under the impression they entered into a valid customary marriage, that Somizi summoned for divorce, and they entered settlement negotiations to end the marriage amicably.

Somizi said that he decided to pay the costs himself and that there was no court order in effect, nor was the matter heard by a court.
“I am grateful that the matter has been resolved and that I can focus on the future. I hope that we can find a path towards healing and resolution.
