Cape Town – South African media mogul and businesswoman Connie Ferguson, launched The Ferguson Foundation on Friday at the Houghton Hotel in Gauteng.
The foundation was founded by Connie and her late husband Shona Ferguson.
The launch of the foundation was delayed following Shona’s passing on July 30, 2021, Times Live reported.
Shona died due to Covid-19 complications.
According to the Ferguson Foundation’s website, the foundation is committed to assisting disadvantaged individuals of African society by empowering them in business, education, film, and ultimately to developing industry leaders.
It also aims to sponsor the university fees of five children from disadvantaged families who will be funded throughout their undergraduate programmes until they graduate.

In regards to female empowerment, the foundation will support selected women around Southern Africa living with HIV/Aids, struggling with the effects of being widowed, and the consequences of the recent Covid-19 pandemic to “provide them with funding for their start-up businesses, and assist them in elevating their skills and thus, creating sustenance”.
The launch was attended by celebrities, politicians and businesswomen and men.
Shona was honoured at the opening.
