Cape Town — South African actress Thuso Mbedu has been blessed with an incredible opportunity after she was announced the new brand ambassador and spokesperson for L’Oreal in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Mbedu has enjoyed a year of great success – she starred in the hit movie The Woman King.
IOL reported that she received the good news while she was at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
“We are excited to welcome Thuso Mbedu into our L’Oréal Paris family. Her exceptional talent, timeless beauty, and commitment to empowering others align perfectly with our mission. We look forward to embarking on this exciting journey together to inspire individuals to embrace their uniqueness and celebrate their inner beauty,” Burkhard Pieroth of L’Oréal Paris Sub-Saharan Africa said.

According to The Citizen, Mbedu said she was excited to be representing her African community as a member of such a big global brand.
“Growing up, one never saw oneself as beautiful. I could never have imagined that one day I would have the honour of being L’Oréal Paris’ first Sub-Saharan African spokesperson. A brand that stands for women empowerment, with a strong sense of diversity, sisterhood and feminism,” she said.
She said that she’s learnt a lot about the brand and the technology behind its innovations and the ground-breaking strides made in understanding African skin.
Many of Hollywood’s biggest names took to the comments to congratulate Thuso on her achievement, including her co-star on The Woman King, Viola Davis.
“THUSOOOO!!!!!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Welcome to the family!!!!! Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️,” Davis wrote
“You couldn’t find a better brand ambassador,” commented Charlize Theron.
“Major!!! Congratulations Thuso ??❤️,” added Zozibini Tunzi.
