Cape Town – South African actor Dumisani Dlamini was chastised on social media for congratulating his daughter Zandile Dlamini, also known as Doja Cat, on her Grammy win.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, Dumisani boasted about his daughter’s achievement, thanking Doja Cat’s fans for supporting her.
“Just wanted to thank everyone who supported my child Zandile God bless you all,” wrote Dlamini in a now-deleted Instagram post, in which the musician held her Grammy award.

Dumisani’s post did not elicit the positive response he might have hoped for, as tweeps descended upon his remarks, calling him all sorts of names.
According to The Citizen, this was primarily due to his lack of a close relationship between him and Doja Cat since birth.
In a radio interview with DJ Quicksilva in 2019, Doja Cat revealed how she never met her father.
“He’s an incredible dancer and a great actor but yeah, I don’t know him very well. I guess, when I was like thirteen, I wanted to see him and then I don’t know what happened…,” Doja Cat said.

On the other hand, Dumisani explained why he never met his daughter, saying that after the Sarafina tour wrapped up in the United States, he decided to stay there for a while.
During his stay, he fell in love with a Jewish-American woman called Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer with whom he had two kids – a son and a daughter who is now known as Doja Cat, according to Tshisa Live.
After being in The United States for more than 15 years, Dumisani said he became very homesick and took a decision to come back to South Africa with a plan of eventually bringing his family to South Africa as well.
But that plan didn’t materialise.

“Beautiful girl (who goes by) the name Doja Cat, she’s singing with Nicki Minaj. If you google you will see, it’s D. O. J. A. C. A. T, she’s one of the best singers now in America. That’s my daughter,” the report quoted Dumisani as saying.
“I am close to my kids, all of them. I love them and they love me,” Dumisani added.

South Africans have everything right to claim Doja Cat as (half) our own but that dead beat Dumisani Dlamini has no right to.
I will not elaborate but this is just what it is.

Dumisani Dlamini’s leech black taxing deadbeat fathers side of the behavior is keeping DOJA CAT off of South African shores.
