Cape Town – One South Africa Movement leader Mmusi Maimane has once again thrown some shade at DJ Shimza, as he weighed in on a fiery feud between Shimza and DJ Maphorisa.
It all started when Maphorisa commented on Shimza’s post where he was promoting his new project. He accused Shimza of constantly working on projects alone without crediting other contributors to his songs.
“Why you always make music alone, no young up coming nyana every time Shimza alone. Grow this afro movement, uplift young talent bro please, that’s why they end up hating us cause you close doors. Don’t tell me u made that beat alone, sorry but I had to take out my chest in front of everyone. Love you mfanaka but I can’t,” DJ Maphorisa wrote.

Shimza refuted the claims and maintained that he had in fact contributed to the music industry via his record label and the Kunye events he hosts.
“That’s what my label Kunye Records is for Phori, that’s why I started the label, that’s why we now have an event called Kunye that showcases the music and streams the sets online so that people can put the face to the names bro. We all work differently bro,” Shimza wrote.
Some gents must be uplifted. I have so many young artists that I have assisted to shine. The industry needs that, fans needs that, we also need that…we cannot always look for popular people who have their names above. This is for the future, I love working with upcoming artists pic.twitter.com/ZRQgwVhcB8

Maimane, not missing an opportunity to weigh in, took to Twitter to say that the criticism of Shimza by Maphorisa was not written by him.
“I don’t run Maphorisa’s Instagram account,” Maimane wrote.
On this, Shimza invited Maimane to join his Twitter Spaces to clear the air. But Maimane refused, saying that he was not ready to join a coverup session.

To join a cover up session. I wasn’t born last night.
I told you that no DJ can spin the turntables of impropriety and corruption.

Last week Maimane and Shimza set Twitter abuzz when they got into a heated argument regarding the alleged R15 million ANC-built stadium in the Enoch Mgijima local municipality, in the Eastern Cape.
Maimane and Shimza did not agree on the price tag of the stadium.
Shimza alluded to the fact that according to some people who worked in construction, the stadium might actually have cost R15 million.
Clearly not agreeing with him, Maimane responded by saying according to his experience, the project definitely did not come close to R15 million.

Shimza then went on and questioned Maimane’s experience in construction.
That was when things quickly went south, and the two started dragging each other.
It all ended up with Maimane giving Shimza the infamous ‘certified L’.
