Cape Town – A Cape Town dental surgeon and model, Fuad Williams, was recently crowned Mr SA 2022 at a prestigious ceremony held in Johannesburg.
According to IOL, the 37-year-old, who is a husband and a father of one, became interested in modeling when he was 19-years-old after he was scouted as a fashion model.
After his second scouting, he joined Top Model after looking for a modelling agency and realised he could do more on a bigger scale, the report said.
He said his wife suggested that he enters for Mr SA and was eventually convinced after a long three hour discussion with her.
“A three hour-long discussion ensued and we concurred that Mr South Africa would be the ultimate platform for me to pursue my goals.
“I ended up being selected for Mr SA and winning the Top Model Men’s Open title in early 2022,” the report quoted Williams as saying.
Speaking on his chance to win the contest, he said he competed with some genuinely good men and “it was anyone’s game”.
When asked if he anticipated his recent win, Fuad said: “Before meeting all the contestants in the week of the finale, I was confident that I stood a good chance of winning.
“I am extremely humbled and grateful for what these charities are doing for our most vulnerable.”
Since his winning, Williams has reportedly vowed to play his part in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV), reported EWN.
He said that sons should be raised to have the highest respect for women and that daughters should expect nothing less.
“As a father to a boy, I fully accept the responsibility and privilege of guiding him to treat humans, especially women, and all living things with respect,” the report quoted him as saying.
“Mr South Africa gives ordinary men the platform to do extraordinary things,” he added.
