Cape Town – Award-winning seasoned thespian Lerato Mvelase will be joining the cast of the much-anticipated second season of ShowMax’s popular series, The Wife.
Lerato will be joining veteran actress, Zikhona Sodlaka, who has been making waves on the show, together with self-proclaimed “queen of bling” media personality, Khanyi Mbau.
She took to Instagram to share the trailer of the new upcoming season that she will be starring in and penned herself a letter reflecting on her acting journey in the show business industry.
“In 1995 I set foot in a professional theatre as an actress, the lights, the set, actors, the script, white people, I had never met them so closely until then, and directors, real-life professional directors, ” she wrote.

“I was galvanised into a space that made me realise that black child; it is possible,” said Lerato on her Instagram story.

Lerato said when she debuted in the theatre industry, she was paid with a brown envelope every Friday for doing what was dear to her heart.
“I got paid to do what I love, I knew then that God lived in me. I’ve worked with amazing creatives over the years and I’ve built amazing professional friendships,” she said.
Lerato said that she will be joining director Antony Coleman and seasoned TV producer, James Ngcobo, in an upcoming theatre production at the Market Theatre in Johannesburg to mark her 28 years in the show business industry.
“We all know that James Ngcobo is one of the best producers, actors and directors. I’m overflowing… will keep you posted,” she wrote.
