Cape Town – Mpumalanga police are reportedly offering a R50 000 reward to anyone who has information that could lead to the arrest of the culprit who attacked and robbed renowned Ndebele artist Esther Mahlangu.
The 87-year-old was left unconscious after she was physically assaulted before being robbed of her firearm and an undisclosed amount of cash late last month.
“Details of the robbery indicate that on the said day, the old woman, who was alone at the time, was preparing to take a nap [after] she reportedly locked all [the] doors of her house. Strangely, she noticed a man unknown to her inside the house.

The incident drew much criticism from the public. Police have since launched a manhunt for the suspect who is still at large.
According to Times Live, a R50 000 reward has been offered to anyone who could provide information about the robbery.
“Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the stolen items as well as subsequent conviction of the suspect is urged to come forth or call Col Ernest Maoka at 082-318-9843. All received information will be treated as confidential,” Police spokesperson Brig Selvy Mohlala said as quoted by the report.
