SA rapper Ricky Rick dies aged 34

Cape Town – Award-winning rapper Rikhado “Ricky Rick” Makhado has reportedly died.

According to SowetanLive, Ricky Rick’s uncle Khangele Makhado confirmed on Wednesday morning that he had received a call from a family friend confirming that the rapper had passed on.

“It’s a tragic moment for us as a family and we are still trying to make sense of this. I don’t have more details about how he died but all I know is that he has passed on. We will issue a statement later in the day,” said the uncle as quoted by the report.

The Sondela hitmaker was 34-years-old.

A report by TrueLove said that a DJ who has worked with tRicky Rick confirmed that the musician had taken his own life and had been battling with his mental health.

“He suffered from depression for a while before deciding to take his own life. He was found hanging by friends,” said the DJ on condition of anonymity as quoted by the publication.

Earlier, Ricky had posted an intimate video clip on social media of him dancing with his wife, Bianca.

The video, subsequently, received much flak on social media, as many said  Bianca’s body seemed as if she was uninterested in the dance.

“I love my chick,” Ricky Rick simply captioned the video clip.

His last tweet from nine hours ago was:

“I’ll return a stronger man. This land is still my home.”
