Cape Town – South African artist Joni-Leigh Doran has reached out to social media site Facebook after her account was hacked by an impersonator who had gained fraudulent access to her personal account and now she stands to lose all her life’s hard work.
Doran announced to fans and followers on her Instagram page that her Facebook had been hacked and she expressed that it was a “killer for a small business” and that it left her feeling heartbroken.
“PLEASE READ.
“I will be sharing soon where I go from here. But for now, this is what I have to do. Please spread the word. This is a killer for a small business. I am heartbroken because 99% of my business came from @facebook and @facebookmarketplace. I will need your help to get back to where I was. I’m still fighting, but for now I am accepting the reality of the situation I am in.
“I also personally lost 15 years of pictures, posts, memories, and connections. I’m sad. So far, I still have access to my instagram accounts, in spite of an impersonated account at @leighjoni2000 who is NOT me and has gained fraudulent access to my Facebook pages.
“For anyone willing to engage with facebook on my behalf (I am blocked from doing so), herewith is the following relevant information:
“ReportID: 8239502351
(supposed) Rights Owner: Universal Publishing LLC
Address: 2216 Griffin Street, Phoenix, AZ, USA
Copyrighted Work: Image used on your December 2022 Ad Campaign.”
“I know it’s just social media. But this is the world we live in and unfortunately, so much of that world is online.
“Thanks for your support,” she wrote.

IOL reported that Doran works predominantly in the traditional medium of oil paint on canvas and linen. She has been drawing and painting all her life and has worked with renowned South African artists such as Ryno Swart and Derek van Rensburg.
Her work includes using animals and natural landscapes to provide her with limitless inspiration and she aims to depict the beauty and fragility of the non-human world through her work.
