Cape Town – South African actor Sibusiso Khwinana’s killer Julius Lucas was reportedly sentenced to life imprisonment and a further 23 years imprisonment by the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Friday.
According to The Citizen, Lucas is a Tanzanian national. In 2019 he stabbed Khwinana, 25, to death.
Khwinana was popularly known for his role in the award-winning movie Matwetwe. He starred in the film as Lefa.
On the day of the incident, Lucas tried to rob Khwinana of his phone. The two allegedly wrestled and Lucas stabbed Khwinana with a sharp object in his upper body.
Khwinana died as a result of a stab wound through the heart.

Lucas has been behind bars since his arrest on March 8, 2019. During his trial, he pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
News24 reported that Lucas was also found to have been in South Africa illegally.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, 15 years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances and 8 years for contravening the Immigration Act.
The court ordered that Lucas be deported back to his country of origin after serving his sentence.
