Cape Town – After confusion surrounding the rumoured death of South African radio personality Mark Pilgrim, the radio station that Mark is attached to, Hot 102.7FM, has confirmed that he wasn’t, and requested fans to not spread fake news.
The radio company took to social media to inform followers that Mark requested people to “refrain from sharing fake news”.
“HOT1027 Would like to inform the public that Mark Pilgrim has not passed on. Social media posts suggesting he’s died are incorrect. Mark has asked that people refrain from sharing fake news around his condition,” said HOT1027 MD Lloyd Madurai.

The confusion came after a James Pilgrim posted to Facebook, announcing that his brother-in-law Mark Pilgrim had passed away.
However, the Mark Pilgrim that passed away was not the one South Africans were familiar with, but rather a man from Alabama, United States.
“I just want to let everyone know that my brother-in-law Mark passed away peacefully early this am. Mark had cancer and was given 6-12 months to live, but he fought it for 22 months,” the post read.
The pictures in the post also suggested that it did not refer to SA’s Mark Pilgrim.
