Cape Town — Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has recently praised a song written in his honour, by Afrikaans music artist Rikus De Beer, broadly known as Radio Raps.
The track, a vibrant homage to the well-loved coach, borrows from The Cranberries’ legendary protest song Zombie, which had already resonated deeply with Bok supporters throughout the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
Over the weekend, Radio Raps took to X to share an electrifying video of his performance of the song Rassie, at the Afrikaans festival Liefde By Die Dam in Johannesburg.
The crowd had sung along in unison, word for word, so it’s absolutely no doubt that the song has reached a massive success streak.
In a heartfelt retweet of the video, Rassie expressed utter gratitude at what had transpired amongst the crowd and shared words of pride at the thought of said song bringing forth unity amongst the nation.
“Baie dankie, I really must say its so lekka to listen and see us all “backing” each other in good and tough times in 🇿🇦 Danko @DieHeuwels @radioraps_rikusdebeer @LiefdeD❤️🇿🇦,” he wrote.

In a follow-up tweet, Rassie rallied South Africans to show their support for the Springboks, as they’re currently in prep for their upcoming matches against fellow rugby nation Australia.
The Bokke are set to face off Australia on the 10 and 17 August, at the Suncorp stadium in Brisbane and the Optus Stadium in Perth.
“Hi 🇿🇦 Think you all know our two tough test matches against Australia!! Please we need to feel and hear from all the way back in SA. And more important we need you to carry and help us through the next two weeks then we back home🙏🏻 and Danko 🇿🇦” wrote Rassie.
