Cape Town – Following the news that Springbok captain Siya Kolisi underwent surgery for a serious knee injury he sustained while playing for the Sharks, his wife Rachel has finally spoken out on how the news affected her and their family.
Siya went for surgery on Friday in Cape Town and now faces a race against time to be fit for the Rugby World Cup in France. He will stay in the country after he secured a big-money move to French rugby side Racing 92.
Rachel took to Instagram and posted a series of pictures, including the family surrounding Siya in hospital after his surgery, another one in which she received the Order of Ikhamanga award on behalf of Siya, as well as other photos of the family and Siya playing rugby.
She thanked fans for their overwhelming love and support shown towards Siya and the family at this time.
“What. A. Week. By Gods beautiful grace we made it! I can’t thank you all enough for every bit of love and support but above everything the prayers ?❤️ Forever in awe of @siyakolisi and his ability to face challenges head on, and with such a positive attitude. Still believing for a miracle. Hope you all had a opportunity to rest, this weekend and, soak up those you love most ❤️,” she said.

Rachel received a lot of comments on her post, with people sending well wishes to Siya and wishing him well in his recovery.
“Thinking of Siya and my prayers will be recited in synagogue when I lead the service this week – speedy recovery!” @herrmanillan8 wrote.
“Sending lots of healing your way xxx,” @shannon_wild commented.
“Wishing captain @siyakolisi well. Aphole umntu wakho MaRachie. Praying for your family,” @bongimokaba said.
Siya now needs to work on recovering and being ready to defend the World Cup crown they won in 2019. The Springboks’ first match at the World Cup is against Scotland on September 10.
