Cape Town – With all the focus being put on whether dog owners should be allowed to have pit bulls as pets or not, South African television presenter and radio DJ, Pearl Modiadie made her stance on the matter clear, taking to Twitter to say that “pit bulls belong in the wild”.
These discussions come after two pit bulls attacked and killed a 3-year-old boy on Sunday morning in the Free State. Video footage of the incident spread across social media.
Pearl, taking to social media, made her stance on the matter clear.
“Pitbulls belong in the wild! They are NOT pets,” she said in a tweet.
“It’s heartbreaking reading about yet another child being mauled by these dogs,” she added.

Her followers seemed to be on the same page, with one tweeting “True this things must be taken to Kruger for match with lions”.
This tweet sparked another debate about whether pit bulls would be able to survive in the wild.
“Amen!!!! Been saying this for so long,” @bhebhetv4 wrote.
Other tweeps took a different stance, insisting that the way a pit bull behaves is dependent on how it was raised by its owner.
I agree. Not to take away from the awful tragedy of the maulings ?
But I’ve seen this personally. A male pitbull was the dog daddy of two of my cats when they were kittens ?. He has the sweetest temperament.— Emancipatedblackqueen (@Emancipatedbla2) November 21, 2022
“Let’s not be dense, dogs behavior is based on how the owner has trained the dog and how it’s been treated,” tweeted @RileighEC.
