Cape Town – Former minister of finance, Tito Mboweni, recently amused South Africans with another kitchen mishap, this time involving a lamb stew made with beef.
Mboweni, known for sharing his culinary adventures on social media, posted a tweet from his home in Makgoebaskloof expressing the idea of making a lamb stew due to the cold weather.
It is cold jete st the Duchy of Makgoebaskoof. So, a lamb stew is a good idea. So here goes! the G pic.twitter.com/23nQL71BAs

However, he accidentally added a pre-packed tray of beef pieces instead of lamb.
Twitter users found humour in his mix-up of the two meat names, with one asking at what stage beef turns into lamb.
Now we are good to go! On your marks, get set and go ! Lamb stew tonight! pic.twitter.com/KUDkmdGyZU

Mboweni acknowledged his error, corrected the name of his meal to “beef stew,” and insisted that it was still “nice”.
It is actually a beef not lamb stew. Nice. pic.twitter.com/Ugq1cXDY0H

This incident adds to Mboweni’s list of unusual culinary combinations, including tin fish curry and pasta, mopani worms and tomato chunks, and boiled fish chutney, among others.
