Cape Town – Following the successful return of the Metro FM Music Awards, all eyes were on the prestigious event that took place at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga this past weekend.
AKA was one of the big winners on the night.
The hip-hop artist won four awards, including Artist of the Year, Best Hip Hop Artist, Best Male Artist, and Best Collaboration for his song with Nasty C, Lemons (Lemonade), EWN reported.
As the artist’s awards were all won posthumously following his tragic death three months ago, his family including mom Lynn, dad Tony and daughter Kairo, were in attendance and there to accept the award on his behalf.

The Forbes family visited AKA’s grave to celebrate his wins, with his dad Tony saying: “Congratulations my boy! You lived your dream. I am so proud of you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Tony also thanked the fans for supporting his son and his music and for sending in their votes for him.
“Thank you everyone that voted, thank you sooo much! Thank you for all the love. I love you,” he said.

TimesLIVE reported that the family also visited AKA’s girlfriend Nadia Nakai, who did not attend the award show to allow the Forbes family to share the spotlight.
“I appreciate you guys so much because you made me feel not alone during this process. He’s left me but I have gained a family,” Nadia said.
No wonder AKA had a song about him , name dropped him so many times coz he shows up when it’s important … Sim Dope came through to celebrate the major sweep ? pic.twitter.com/Vo04T5sW2h
