Cape Town — South African actress Pearl Thusi has been living it up in Zimbabwe lately and was spotted hanging with several top Zimbabwean officials.
Pearl was among the many African media influencers and journalists who were invited to the country by Zimbabwean officials for an exclusive dinner.
She has since come under scrutiny for her visit to the country and News24 reported why she was there in the first place. She said she had gone for tourism reasons but came under fire for her involvement in the highly-publicised dinner, dubbed the True Zimbabwe Tour.
She further explained that she was only told about the gala dinner and state house visit after she arrived in Zimbabwe and she obliged because that is how she was raised, and being disrespectful is not who she is.
“I am not going to apologise for anything. What I will say is I did not know I was going to be at the State House, and I didn’t know I was going to be in a situation that was going to look politically charged.”

She also then took to Instagram and posted a compilation video of her time in Zimbabwe, despite attending the dinner, she stayed true to her word and showcased some of Zimbabwe’s finest tourist attractions.
“The reason I came to Zimbabwe. To show the world how beautiful it is. Come to Zimbabwe and experience it’s magic. Experience the power in Zimbabwe and spread the word.”
Thank you so much for the invitation and I can’t wait to return and change the narrative of what Africa looks like to the entire world. I’m so proud to be an African.”
“One more African nation ticked off the list! Can’t wait to see who’s next! Thank you for your incredible hospitality Zimbabwe!”
