Cape Town – The family of the late veteran actor Patrick Shai has pleaded with the public to refrain from sharing “triggering” posts about the actor on social media.
Shai reportedly committed suicide amidst a controversial video that played out on Twitter of him challenging rapper Cassper Nyovest to a boxing match.
The video which went viral on the social public platform has birthed a number of speculations regarding the veteran actor’s motives for ending his own life.
Family spokesperson Amogelang Mmusi said social media posts and reports about his death had become triggering for the family, as they had not yet received information from the police confirming the cause of the death.
“It’s really triggering. Law enforcement had requested the family not to speak about the circumstances around the cause of his death and because they wanted to do some work and share the details with the family,” she said in a Times Live report.
Meanwhile, The River star actor Hlomla Dandala seemed to suggest that rapper Cassper Nyovest was partly to blame for the flak Shai received on social media before Shai’s untimely death.

This was in reference to the controversial video that resulted in Shai being taunted on social media by Cassper and his multitude of followers for calling him “a son of a b*tch”.
“Why does my family have to be disrespected like this yo? F**k this is too much now!” Cassper said at the time.
Who the fuck is that old man and why is he calling my mom a bitch? Why does my family have to be disrespected like this yo? Fuck this is too much now!!! Modimo nna ha ke sa kgona, ke kopa thuso.

Hlomla took to his Instagram recently to post the American definition of the phrase and stated that “it is not a reference to one’s family”.
“None are so dangerous as those who don’t know that they don’t know,” he said in the caption.
