Cape Town — South African DJ and Producer, Oscar Mbo, has issued an apology to fellow singer, Makhadzi, for allegedly sabotaging her performance during the Macufe Festival.
The Macufe Festival takes place every year in October and Oscar Mbo and Makhadzi were part of the star-studded lineup for the festival. However, both artists’ respective performances were cut short and fans were left confused and devastated by the issue, TimesLIVE reported.
According to Makhadzi, Mbo’s DJ had allegedly removed her USB and ruined her set, and she took to her social media to vent and share her frustrations.
“I am sorry to perform 20 minutes. I don’t know if this is all about Oscar Mbo PR trend but why in such crazy moments when people paid money to see us? Unfortunately, Oscar’s DJ removed my USB when I was about to finish,” she said.
She explained her side of the story where she said Mbo’s DJ was cutting songs to finish quickly and he pulled the USB out. She begged him to perform one more song because she was supposed to perform for 45 minutes.

According to Oscar, he clarified the situation was a result of poor event coordination by the organisers and the agreement was to divide the times equally as Malhadzi arrived late.
“You performed in my time slot. I performed 10 minutes because you had used my time. No one took you off. You got off stage after performing all the songs you wanted,” he said.
He said Makahdzi was informed to only perform for 20 minutes, which she exceeded.
Following the aftermath of the incident, Oscar issued an apology to Makhadzi for his team’s behaviour if they had removed her USB mid-set, The South African reported.
“I’m saying again, you and I have this thing, yes, my team; I’m apologising for them or him if he did that,” he said.
“I said it over the phone, and I’m repeating it now—if that did happen, I’m sorry, my sister,” he added.
Despite the agreement, poor communication and stage management led to the incident, which was marred by confusion.
“The common denominator is the event promoter; that is why I said let us get them to issue out a statement regarding the incident,” he said.
