Cape Town – The pride of South African rugby is usually dependent on how well the Springboks perform on the pitch, and they usually make us proud, despite all the moans, groans and shouts that stem from the fans during game-time.
However, off the pitch, when fans look at the relationships that the players have with their wives and girlfriends, it instills different emotions and provokes different reactions – emotions of warmth and reactions ‘aaaw’.
African Insider compiled a list of 5 Springbok couples that we feel bring us the most pride, make us feel that warmth, and cause us to say ‘aaaaw’ every time they’re seen together, whether it be on social media or in person.
5 – Faf de Klerk & Minnie

The couple who recently tied the knot looked adorable on their wedding day. Just take note of how Faf looks at Minnie in her Instagram post that she captioned, “The best day of my life”. Doesn’t it make you feel some type of way, considering the fact that Faf is like a raging pit bull on the field? If you were to watch a rugby match wherein Faf is playing and look at this picture right after, you would think they’re two different people.
4 – Malcolm & Kirsten Marx

In the comment section of this Instagram post, Siya Kolisi wrote, “love you guys”. Well Siya, the rest of South Africa loves them too! A cute couple with an adorable baby that makes Malcolm seem like the softest guy on earth who does not deliver bone-crunching tackles when he steps onto a rugby field. It’s amazing.
3 – Eben Etzebeth & Anlia van Rensburg

“The beginning of the rest of our lives. I never wanted to hear the word ‘yes’ so badly in my life,” Eben wrote about his soon-to-be wife on Instagram as he wished her a happy birthday earlier this year. How sweet is that? Did you notice the contrast between Eben on the rugby field and Eben with his future wife? Amazing, right? I’d hate to see what happens to a dude who messes with these two.
2 – Franco & Juan-Ri Mostert

There are a lot of things one can mention about a cute couple. But Franco and Juan-Ri make the list because of this post alone. Not because of how cute they look in the picture, snuggled warmly under a blanket, but because of the heartwarming message penned by Franco to his wife.
“Today we have been married for 7 years and it feels like our first year. You just make me fall more in love every day.
“I thought about it this morning, you really are like coffee to me. I don’t want to start my day without you.
“I know I haven’t bee home a lot this year to assist you and for that I am really sorry.
“But, I think we have grown so much and become stronger this year that nothing will ever break us.
“Thank you for the most incredible 7 years, my wife. You are my coffee. Love you. Happy Anniversary.”
What more is there to say besides advising you to turn your face away from the digital device you’re reading this article on so that it does not get damaged by your tears?
1 – Siya and Rachel Kolisi

This one is a no-brainer, right? If South Africa had a power couple, it would be these two. Heck, let’s officially declare Rachel and Siya Kolisi the official power couple of this nation! Not even because of all the cute moments they share with their following on social media, the fact that they always look good together when they’re attending a formal event, or the banter they have between one another but because of their dedication to making South Africa better!
They co-founded the Kolisi foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to fighting Gender Based Violence, focusing on food security, and helping the youth through Educational & Sports Development. If that does not solidify them as a power couple, I have no clue what will.
