Cape Town – Ntsiki Mazwai has accused Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie of corruption and favouritism over Unathi Nkayi’s inclusion in the Havana International Book Fair.
Ntsiki claims she was initially invited but later removed, questioning Unathi’s credentials as a writer.
“You put in people like Unathi who’s not even a writer or a poet to be representing us at the book fair. To my understanding she doesn’t even have a book. For some of us who have books, masters degrees in writing, it is a complete insult.
As someone who was invited by the Cubans…..I will be submitting to the PP to investigate why I was excluded and the minster of arts and culture put in his celebrity friends…. pic.twitter.com/gGNu69Dp3j

“It’s fine that you felt sorry for her when she was crying but to use our public funds to appease yourselves is where the corruption is,” she said.
