Cape Town — Lynn Forbes has set the record straight and come to the aid of her granddaughter Kairo Forbes, after some suggested that she was being used for views and clout.
The debate came up following Kairo performed at Galaxy 947 Joburg Day as a tribute to her father, AKA. She performed alongside her mother, Dj Zinhle, and her dad’s girlfriend, Nadia Nakai.
The reaction to Kairo’s performance drew mixed responses from Mzansi across social media. Some praised her bravery and courage to perform for her dad, while others felt that she was being used for “clout” by the family to try and get sympathy.
Lynn didn’t take kindly to one person, who wrote on X that they thought the family forced Kairo to perform, saying an eight-year old would never willingly perform.
Lynn said Kairo wanted to perform out of her own accord.
She also reminded people that Kairo was never going to be able to have a normal childhood, because her mom is DJ Zinhle and her dad is AKA.
Kairo didn’t say, “ I WANT to perform at Joburg Day”
She said, “ I’m GOING TO perform at Joburg Day. I don’t want anyone to go on stage with me. I’m going to sing my daddy’s voice, by myself.”
It sat well with her, She cried. She is very proud of herself. No one forced her. https://t.co/3DfT70Xrt9— Lynn Forbes (@lynnforbesza) September 7, 2023
