Cape Town – The Ndlovu Youth Choir is set for a busy few months ahead, as they will embark on a commemorative tour to Atlanta in honour of the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The group will also perform in their first official headline tour of the country.
The South African reported that the group will be doing a performance to celebrate what would have been Tutu’s 91st birthday.
The announced its arrival in Atlanta on Facebook.
According to the Atlanta Daily World, Tutu had a long-standing history with Atalanta. He persuaded Atlanta-based beverage company Coca-Cola to remove its assets from South Africa until the end of Apartheid.
Atalanta mayor, Andre Dickens, said Atlanta had been a second home to ‘The Arch”.
“I could not think of a more fitting place outside of South Africa to honour the legacy of such an extraordinary man with an unwavering moral compass than right here in the Cradle of the Civil Rights Movement,” said Dickens.
The choir also announced, via its Instagram page that they will be doing their first official tour of South Africa.

The Ndlovu Youth Choir shot to fame when they reached the finals of America’s Got Talent Season 14 in 2019. They’ve also completed a number of sold-out shows in Europe in recent years.
