Cape Town — South Africans have paid tribute to the life of author and activist Zoleka Mandela, who lost her battle with cancer on Monday 25 September.
Zoleka was diagnosed with lung and liver cancer in 2022 and she proved an inspiration to many as she fought hard in her battle. Ultiametly, her fate was sealed and she even revealed that she was preparing for death, earlier this year.
However, her death was confirmed by a family statement to her Instagram timeline.
“Zoleka passed away on the evening of Monday surrounded by friends and family. Our sincerest gratitude to the medical team that took care of her,” read the statement.

Tributes started pouring in almost immediately in the aftermath of Zoleka’s death, with many famous names and organisations paying tribute to the granddaughter of Nelson Mandela and Winne Madikizela-Mandela.
