Cape Town – South African singer, Lerato Moipone Molapo, known professionally as Lira, has said that her speech healing is “very slow”, while giving an update, as she recovers from her stroke.
Lira is recovering in South Africa after she suffered a stroke while she was overseas, performing in Germany.
Lira’s family said in a statement that the stroke had affected her ability to communicate.
“As Lira’s family, we would like to take this opportunity to share some recent developments regarding Lira’s health. Lira recently travelled to Germany for a performance but unfortunately suffered a stroke while there. As a result, her ability to communicate, in particular her speech, has been impacted,” the family said.
In a recent update, Lira said that she is doing the best she can as she travels the road to recovery.
“Complements of the new year! I haven’t posted this year. My speech healing is very slow, I’m doing the best I can to remain sane. I’m still alive and well. I wish great health, prosperity and love!!”

The award-winning singer said in a previous post that her healing journey has taught her to “slow down, smell the roses and savour each moment”.
“Five months and still alive and kicking. I’m grateful for the gift of life. I’m making incredible progress and enjoying the much-needed break. One lesson I’ve learnt is to slow down, smell the roses and savour each moment,” she wrote on her Instagram timeline.
