Cape Town – Beloved South African radio personality, Mark Pilgrim, underwent surgery on Thursday aimed at repairing his collapsed lung.
At the beginning of October, Mark revealed in a post that recovery was underway after he suffered from a collapsed lung. The radio presenter was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
In his latest post on Instagram, he revealed that he had been scheduled to undergo surgery.
“Surgery later this afternoon to sort out collapsed lung… and my “ICU home” for the next week or so,” he said in the caption.

“To the staff and nurses at Millpark Hospital… you are my angels,” he added in the caption.
The presenter made a return to radio earlier this month but was forced off the air by his health issues.
Mark apologised to his followers for being off-air longer than he expected, as he received further treatment for his collapsed lung.
He took to his Instagram account to express his gratitude to Hot FM’s management for always making his health their priority.
“Sorry guys, had plans to be back on air tomorrow, but the constant lung draining (another 2L today) is really knocking me. Today I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Lloyd, Tony and the rest of the management team at @hot1027fm. I phone to say I want to crawl up the stairs and do a show and they’re the sensible ones saying, no matter how many times I’m off air, their priority is supporting me getting better. We are not just a radio station, we’re a family. Thank you to everyone at @hot1027fm,” he wrote.

According to Cleveland Clinic, A collapsed lung occurs when air gets inside the chest cavity (outside the lung) and creates pressure against the lung.
