Lalela’s reign as Miss SA has been marked by upheaval.
Since it was revealed that she would be competing in the Miss Universe pageant, which is set to take place on December 12, South Africans have been divided about her participation in the International pegeant because of the location.
Some felt that Lalela should have boycotted the pageant because of Israel’s alleged atrocities against Palestinians, while others felt it was best if beauty pageants were not politicised.
