Cape Town – South African musician Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, popularly known as Makhadzi topped the Twitter trending list after she became a victim of body shaming following her performance in Malawi over the weekend.
An event photographer shared photos of her performing on stage showing her inner thighs.
The pictures received mixed reactions, with some saying her “dark inner thighs” were a “sign that she didn’t bathe”.
Responding to the trolls, the Matorokisi hitmaker issued a statement pleading with the trolls to stop “humiliating” her.
She said although she could stay strong and deal with such ill-treatment, her family, on the other hand, could not.
“I am strong but my family and friends are not strong as I am … seeing them crying about edited pictures really break(s) me and affect me badly,” she said.
Coming to her defence were the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of Parliament, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, Pearl Modiadie, and Ntsiki Mazwai amongst other many South Africans.
