Cape Town — In a recent interview, Lynn Forbes opened up on her son’s music journey and career and revealed how she had to deal with judgy mothers.
Lynn — or Glammy as she’s affectionately known now — sat down with comedian, Schalk Bezuidenhout on his podcast Your Mom with Schalk where she revealed she had to endure a ton of judgement from the mother’s whose children attended school with Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes.
“I can remember sitting at the school leavers brunch with all the St John’s mommies. And there I am sitting, but everyone is going to varsity but my son is like the only child that doesn’t go to varsity,” she said.
“You know how you just want to sink into the floor. Because when it comes to me and I say ‘no my son has decided he’s not going to varsity, he’s going to be a sound engineer and rapper… nobody said anything but I could feel it, that judgement was real,” she continued.
“Shame, you must be struggling so much with your child. This poor child is giving you so much trouble,” she says mimicking other mom’s thoughts.
Lynn said Kiernan had bumped into an old teacher years later, once he was already famous, and when asked what he was up to in his career, AKA said “dabbling in a bit of music.”
“Judgy moms and sweet success, Schalk talks with @lynnforbesza as she reminisces on her son @akaworldwide’s journey to fame.”
“I loved this conversation! So much fun was had! 🤗,” Lynn said.
