Cape Town – A Northern Ireland-based law student is reportedly going blind after she had gotten her eyeballs tattooed.
Ayanda Peterson intended to follow in the footsteps of an Australian model, Amber Luke who had tattooed her eyeballs blue but went blind for three weeks after.
Amber had regained her vision, but Ayanda does not share the same luck, as she faces the possibility of becoming permanently blind.
Ayanda was reportedly warned about potential blindness after getting her eyeballs tattooed by her 7-year-old daughter, but the mother proceeded anyway.

According to Daily Loud, Ayanda was initially only going to get one eye tattooed.
“I was just going to get one [eye tattoo] at first, because I thought that if I go blind, at least I’ve got the other eye. I should have stuck with that,” Peterson reportedly told Kennedy News. “My daughter told me that I didn’t want to do that [the tattoo] asking, ‘What if you go blind?’ She wasn’t on board with it at all.”
The unfortunate decision to not heed the advice of her daughter resulted in her being hospitalized for the eyeball modification after a potential reaction to the ink. Ayanda also claimed that she is at risk for developing cataracts.
“Unfortunately, my artist went too deep into my eyeball,” she reportedly told the Daily Star when she lost her vision for three weeks. “If your eyeball procedure’s done correctly, you’re not supposed to go blind at all.”
