Cape Town — South African singer and superstar, Tyla, was among the glitz and glam at the recent prestigious Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards that took place in Los Angeles.
Some of the biggest names in Hollywood were in attendance, including Whoopi Goldberg, Zoe Saldanha, Issa Rae and Cynthia Erivo, as the awards celebrated some of the biggest achievements by black women in Hollywood.
The event was a blend of fashion and talent, and Tyla stood out in a stunning gold mini-dress, paired with bold hoop earrings and black gladiator sandals, with her pixie-cut to round out the glamourous look, according to Essence.

According to The South African, the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards is an annual celebration that recognises the achievements of Black women in the entertainment industry. The theme of this year’s event was ‘Scene and Unseen’ and focused on the unseen contributions of black women in storytelling.
Actor Aldis Hidge hosted the event, and Cynthia Erivo and Teyana Taylor were among the women to be honoured at the event.
One attendee at the event said Tyla represented a new generation of artists and her presence showcased South Africa’s global impact.
A video posted on the Essence Instagram page showed Tyla posing for a cute picture alongside models Lori Harvey and Kat Graham, Teyana Taylor and Ryan Destiny.
