Cape Town – Kelly Rowland took Mzansi by surprise when she recently announced that she was in South Africa. It, however, still remains unclear why she was in the country, but she did put the spotlight on a few local businesses, according to a report.

Channel24 said the American musician spent a week in Mzansi.

The singer took the time to appreciate some local talent and local businesses.

She met with local dancer Bontle Modiselle who announced earlier this year that would be launching her own dancing studio, according to The Citizen.

Appearing in the video with Bontle, Kelly called her “the most brilliant, honest and authentic brown South African beauty”.

Kelly also met with Mzansi’s very own Chef Wandile Mabaso who won his first culinary award in South Africa when he was named Chef of the Year at the Luxe Restaurant Awards.

“It was an absolute honour and pleasure hosting and cooking for the incredible and humble Kelly Rowland at Les Créatifs Restaurant last night,” wrote Wandile in a tweet.

To top it off, just shortly before she left the country, Kelly was gifted a custom pair of Bathu sneakers, a homegrown sneaker brand founded in 2015 by Theo Baloyi.

On her departure Kelly took to Instagram to appreciate all the local talent and businesses, saying that she left her heart in the country and that she cant wait to visit again.

“I left my heart in S.A. I can’t wait to come back, So I can get it,” wrote Kelly in an Instagram post.
