Cape Town – Former eNCA news anchor, Shahan Ramkissoon, has become the latest high-profile name to join the alcohol industry after he launched his brand new gin called Lenyora.
Known primarily for his hard-hitting style of journalism, Ramkissoon worked for over a decade at eNCA before moving in search of a welcome change in both his career and location, according to Kaya959.
He announced his new beverage on Twitter, saying: “I’ve launched my very own proudly South African gin called Lenyora.”

Ramkissoon told IOL the meaning behind the name ‘Lenyora’ saying: “Wanting the brand to be proudly South African, Lenyora is Sesotho and fittingly means thirst in English, hence the tagline: ‘The thirst is real.’ Interestingly, Lenyora, in South African slang can also mean ‘boss’ or ‘top dog’.”
Replying to one user who asked about the flavour he said it is “infused with vanilla and elderflower that’s the difference. And we’ve removed the bitter after taste”.
Ramkissoon joins a host of other celebrities including former rugby star Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira, DJ Tira, and Cassper Nyovest in the alcohol industry.
