Cape Town – One South Africa Movement leader, Mmusi Maimane, and DJ Ashley Raphala, popularly known as DJ Shimza, set Twitter abuzz recently when they got into a heated argument regarding the alleged R15 million ANC-built stadium in the Enoch Mgijima local municipality, in the Eastern Cape.
It all started when Shimza commented on a tweet by the government head of digital communications, Athi Geleba in which she replied to Economic Freedom Fighters’ deputy leader, Floyd Shivambu who had expressed his suspicions about the cost of the stadium.
“An ANC Municipality in the Eastern Cape, Enoch Mgijima has opened what they call a stadium… R15 MILLION was paid to build this thing & they are proud of it. The people of South Africa must vote these people out of power because they have no shame. None whatsoever! R15m for this?,” Shivambu wrote
Geleba then replied, giving a list of the work that presumably went into its construction.
Electrical installation. Rain water catchment tank. Highrise water main tank. Guardhouse. Gravel car parking.

Shimza then weighed in and commented “Oawa”, with some laughing emojis
Shimza’s comment was quickly noticed by Maimane, who also weighed in and commented: “Even Shimza can’t spin these turntables.”
Shimza did not take Maimane’s comment as a joke, and, therefore, alluded to the fact that according to some people who worked in construction, the stadium might actually have cost R15 million.
“This one, aikhona (no way). I’m seeing a lot of engineers and people who work in construction saying it’s actually possible but people must account for clarity,” Shimza wrote.
Even Shimza can’t spin these turntables.

Maimane clearly did not agree with what Shimza said, and therefore, threw some light shade and said: “I understand why you have to soften the blow. From my experience, this project definitely did not come close to R15 million.”
Shimza then went on and questioned Maimane’s experience in construction.
That was when things quickly went south, and the two started dragging each other.
Take a look at the Twar:

I have been involved in construction projects, I have done financial oversight on several construction projects.
Maybe you just know me from twitter streets but I have extensive experience with PFMA and MFMA from my prior and current jobs.
It’s a very overpriced project.

Message your bae. Send flowers. No one forced you to enter this chat.
I have a masters in Economics, while you were entering DJ competitions I was working in public office, I know what I am talking about.
Bottomline, the project did not cost R15 million. There is no spin room
