Cape Town – Multiple award-winning actress, Brenda Ngxoli took to Twitter recently to reflect on her journey in the entertainment industry and to give herself a pat in the back for her accolades.
Brenda first shot into fame with her impressive character of “Vuyo” on Home Affairs – a drama series that made South Africans stay glued on their screens every Thursday evenings.
Since then she has donned many hats, including being a presenter on SABC 1’s Real Gobhoza and most recently playing “NomaPrincess” on The Queen alongside veteran actress, Connie Ferguson.
She shared what it was like playing “Vuyo” and her refusal to mediocrity when it comes to her “craft”.

“From her voice, temperament, walk and emotions I went all in. Made courageous Choices. And she rewarded me with an International Emmy Nomination. Me, first South African and second African to be acknowledged by these Awards. Here too I worked myself to the bone. Refusing to deliver Mediocrity,” said Brenda.

Brenda said that even with presenting, she went all out to deliver.
“Even when I was presenting I worked damn hard behind the scenes. Love me or hate me but no one will ever steal the amount of time ,energy and dedication I have committed to my craft. That is why I’m uber proud of my nine SAFTA (South African Film and Television Awards) nominations, three SAFTA wins and International Emmy nomination,” she said.

According to TshisaLive, Brenda took a hiatus from the entertainment scene to focus on her “spiritual” journey.
“I think the spiritual journey and being away has helped me to value people, to value the small moments. It has been amazing to realise just how much people are willing to help you and how much they care about you when you think that nobody cares,” TimesLive quoted her as saying.
Tweeps weighed in:
You have every right to be proud, it is the fruits that has come from a long time of working the lands…. From your work on the production ‘Home Affairs’ to ‘Rockville’, even the work you’ve been putting onto your YouTube channel…
