Cape Town – South African rapper Riyadh Roberts, better known as YoungstaCPT has paid homage to the late musician Rikhado “Ricky Rick” Makhado, with his new song Dear Rikhado, Love Riyadh.
Ricky Rick, 34, died on February 23.
He committed suicide as a result of a mental health battle, according to TrueLove.
YoungstaCPT took to social media to explain why he had not spoken out publicly about Ricky Rick’s death sooner, claiming that he and the rapper spent most of their time together in private and not in public.
Youngsta said that everyone grieves differently and that he grieves quietly.

“During Ramadan I have time to process my thoughts, what im feeling & pray on it. Everyone grieves differently, I do it quietly. I never spoke about Riky’s passing becoz most of our encounters were personal, not always public. I wasn’t his closest friend nor did we know each other for a lifetime but over the years there was a friendship built. We spoke a lot…about music, politics, life, fashion, legacy & deep topics I didn’t even know he thought of. We didn’t have many musical moments so I wrote a song for him since he said I was a ‘rappers rapper’.

“This won’t be enough to explain everything he’s done for us and everyone he influenced in SA hip hop but just like them Im hurting inside & wanted to say my piece to be a little bit more at peace. My heart goes out to his wife, his kids & his family whom I keep in my prayers as I see this holy month nearing its end. May Allah accept the duahs we make for him & grant him a high place in Jannah inshallah Ameen,” YoungstaCPT wrote in an Instagram post.

According to The South African, Riky Rick and YoungstaCPT collaborated on Riky’s 2017 Buy It Out remix. The song formed part of Riky Rick’s Stay Shining EP. The duo also spoke in-depth about YoungstaCPT’s hip-hop journey on Lab Live, Riky’s YouTube series.
