Layla Kolbe defends her ‘private school mom’ comments

Cape Town — Layla Kolbe, the wife of Springbok star Cheslin Kolbe, has faced criticism for her comments made about looking like a “private school mom.”

Layla uploaded an Instagram story this week after she got a fresh blowout her hair salon. She was excited to share the look with her followers and explained that she felt like a “private school mom.”

One of her followers – @tanyadsf – took a screenshot of the story and questioned what she meant by the comments.

“When Layla Kolbe makes a comment on her Instagram that a fresh blowout makes you feel like a private school mom,” she said.

“So what do public moms look like, then? The labels we give each other! Moms are amazing in all forms! Let’s ditch the stereotypes,” she commented.

“Mom’s are amazing in all forms. Let’s ditch the stereotypes,” she added.

Layla commented on the post to clarify her comments and called out the follower for taking her words without context.
“When @tanyadsf screenshots the very next video without audio where I explain myself . But you see why I need to explain myself after every joke? Meanwhile, my DMs are full saying I don’t need to even explain, they know. Maar ja, so gaan dit (But yeah, so it goes),” Layla said.
According to The South African, Layla explained that the joke was not meant to offend any mothers and she just did so because she felt great.
