Cape Town — Khanyi Mbau, the South African actress, has apparently withdrawn from the highly anticipated celebrity boxing match that was originally planned against Zodwa Wabantu.
The news of their upcoming showdown in a celebrity boxing bout had created quite a buzz among Mzansi’s fans. This event was originally set to take place on the 22nd of October at The Ridge Casino in Mpumalanga.
At the time, boxing promoter Arnold ” “Squire” Nododile’s Infinity International Boxing will also stage it’s maiden boxing tournament that day.
“This will be the first ever female celebrity exhibition boxing match-up in the African Continent since such fights have become part and parcels of the evolution of boxing around the globe,” Nododile said.
However, The South African reported that Khanyi dumped the fight and would no longer be fighting Zodwa and that she would be replaced with another actress.
“Khanyi will no longer be part of the fight, please note we’ve found a potential replacement to fight with Zodwa Wabantu. We are just waiting for the actress to return back the contract today (Wednesday), so we can make the posters to promote the fight,” Nododile said.
Celebrity blog Maphepha Ndaba revealed a week ago that the actress who is currently in Dubai has rubbished reports that she’s set to fight Zodwa Wabantu.
“No admin it’s a lie, I’m not doing any fight with Zodwa mina. I’m a lady, why would I do that? My brand wouldn’t allow me to do such.”
