Cape Town — South African TV personality and chef, Lorna Maseko, has criticised local consumers for not buying her local cookware merchandise.
She posted a video to her TikTok page where she expressed how shocked she was that her cookware products sell out so quickly in the USA, but she has to beg for people to buy her products here in South Africa.
“I don’t understand. Usually, I sell out my cookware line in America after an hour or two hours. Literally sell hundreds of these products,” she said.
“In South Africa, my sauces…I must beg. That doesn’t make sense to me. How is that even possible? These are my people,” she added.
“But Americans – where I am a foreigner – people love my cookware line. Make it make sense”.

According to The South African, Maseko’s sauces and spices range from R120 to R350, while her cookware line ranges from R700 to R1 100. In the comments, many South Africans responded to her, saying they were unawar that she sold spices and cookware, and that she did not market her brand very well.
“To be fair. We don’t even know you have a cookware line,” Zeesticks Radebe said.
“Then focus on selling in the US, that’s where your market is,” Lebone M added.
“we don’t know what you are talking about sis,” kelebogile wrote.
“I was today years old when I found out you have a cookware line,” Larno Van Wyk commented.
